What is the perfect timing to order your wedding flowers?
These are the things you’ll need to check off your list before you can go ahead and make the final purchase of your wedding flowers:
·Colour and theme –
What theme is your wedding going to have? Beach? Traditional? Country? Once you have this locked in, your flowers can be chosen to match.
·Venue -
To a large extent, the choice of your venue will decide your final theme, so wait until you have your venue booked in and confirmed before making a decision on your flowers.
·Bridesmaids dresses –
Once you’ve chosen dresses, make sure that all the sizes are available and you’ve confirmed that everything is good to go. The colour of your bridesmaids dresses will be the most important factor when deciding on the colour scheme of your wedding floral décor.
Your bridal gown –
Oddly enough, this isn’t as important as your bridemaids dresses, unless your gown has some unusual colours that need to be matched. If you are choosing all white flowers or cream flowers, then you will need to wait until you have chosen your dress as sometimes the variations of whites and creams can clash.
Your final numbers aren’t really that important. You can always order more of something closer to the day, like adding an extra buttonhole or even an extra bridesmaid!
All this considered, we would recommend ordering your forever flowers from Polly’s at least 6 months in advance. This gives you a chance to see the flowers, make sure you’re happy with everything but also leaving enough time to allow for any supplier issues. You could order them a year in advance if you wanted to, as long as the flowers are kept really well packaged and safe from any dust and dirt that could cause them to look a bit tired on the day.
However, if you’re on the hunt for last minute wedding bouquets- maybe your florist got sick, or someone forget to book - allow 2 weeks for your flowers to be made and posted, and contact us to let us know the urgency!
It’s obvious that we think artificial wedding flowers are the most genius, stress-free option to planning your flowers for your special day, but just in case you’re not convinced let us give you a couple of our insights from our years of being a wedding designer with “real” flowers.
You can order online! No need to travel around visiting multiple florists for consultations and price quotes. No need to try to explain what you want your flowers to look like. Choose your flowers online, add to cart, and your flowers can be on your doorstep in 2 weeks.
When it comes to the timing of ordering your flowers, you’re not just “saving the date” with a florist who you hope is going to provide the flowers you’re dreaming of, you’re actually buying the flowers outright. So you can receive them and check them out weeks or months earlier, away from the many other stresses that come with “the big day”.
If you’re unsure of the colours we have sample boxes you can purchase to compare the colours against dresses and other décor you may want to match with. And being artificial the colours don’t change.
When you order your flowers from the website, you’re not ordering an idea, you can see the flowers exactly as they are and know that you’re going to get what you ordered.
So the answer to the question is… ideally around 6 months before your big day you should be ordering your wedding flowers. This goes for both fresh and artificial flowers.
But even if your wedding is 12 months or 12 days away, let us know and we can make sure you get the flowers of your dreams.
All the best with your planning!
